The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) inner ring road project is on track to complete the first phase of land acquisition within the next 3-4 months. This milestone marks progress for a crucial infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the region.

The first phase of the inner ring road focuses on a 4.7 km stretch from Solu to Vadgaon Shinde, with a budget allocation of Rs 113 crore. The ultimate goal of the 83.12 km inner ring road is to provide an efficient route for vehicles, helping them bypass city traffic and connect major roads like Pune-Satara Road and Nagar Road.

Officials have confirmed that the land acquisition for the first phase is expected to be completed soon, with compensation already deposited with the district collector’s office. Approximately 30% of the allocated budget has been utilized for land acquisition.

While the first phase is crucial for initiating the project, the entire 83.12 km ring road is expected to cost around Rs 14,200 crore. The road will cover multiple talukas in the Pune district and connect important highways, enabling quicker movement of vehicles without the bottlenecks caused by urban traffic.

The inner ring road aims to alleviate heavy traffic congestion in Pune by providing a seamless route for vehicles traveling to and from the city, bypassing congested roads. The project will include 42 connecting roads, 17 bridges, 10 tunnels, and provisions for Metro tracks.

The full project will span across 44 villages in Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas, requiring the acquisition of approximately 743.41 hectares of land. Drones have been used to aid in the land survey process, speeding up the acquisition and planning stages.

Overall, the progress on the first phase of the PMRDA inner ring road project marks a significant step towards improving transportation infrastructure in the Pune Metropolitan Region.
