The streets of Senapati Bapat Road were rocked by a shocking incident on Thursday night when a policeman was viciously attacked by a group of drunken individuals. The cop, identified as Police Naik Chandrakant Jadhav, had tried to intervene as the gang caused a disturbance, but instead, he became the target of their violence.
After the attack, Jadhav wasted no time in seeking justice and went straight to the Chatushrungi Police Station to file a complaint. However, he was met with resistance from the duty officer, who initially refused to register the case. It wasn’t until Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stepped in that action was taken.
Thanks to Kumar’s intervention, three suspects – Rupesh Manjrekar, Aniket Ghodke, and Abhijit Dongre – were apprehended and a case was officially opened. The incident occurred near Ratna Hospital, where the accused were causing a disturbance inside an autorickshaw. When Jadhav tried to intervene, they turned on him, hurling insults and eventually resorting to physical violence.
Despite facing obstacles in the form of uncooperative officers and political pressure to drop the case, Jadhav persisted in seeking justice. His determination paid off when Commissioner Kumar ensured that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. It also highlights the importance of standing up against injustice and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
