The shocking and tragic case of two young sisters found dead in a water drum in Rajgurunagar has taken a disturbing turn with the revelation that the elder sister was sexually assaulted before being murdered. The accused, a 54-year-old cook, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, the girls, aged nine and six, were reported missing on Wednesday while playing near their home. Their bodies were discovered in the cook’s room in the same building where the family resided.
The investigation has revealed that the accused lured the girls into his room with sweets and then locked the elder sister in the bathroom. When the younger sister began screaming, he struck her on the head with a pipe and drowned her in the water drum. He then attempted to sexually assault the elder sister, who resisted and was also drowned in the drum.
Forensic evidence has confirmed the sexual assault, and SP Deshmukh believes that the accused committed these heinous acts to avoid being identified, as he was known to the family. The accused will remain in police custody until January 1 as the investigation continues.
