Confusion and rebellion have erupted in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad as the Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi struggle with seat allocation for the upcoming Assembly elections. Internal dissatisfaction within both alliances has led to multiple independent nominations being filed across various constituencies.
In Pune city, the Congress party has seen the most rebellion, with former Mayor Kamal Vyavahare and others filing independent nominations in constituencies like Kasba, Shivajinagar, and Parvati. In Pune District, Maval constituency has united against the incumbent MLA, while Bhor and Junnar have witnessed rebellions from Shiv Sena and NCP candidates.
Pimpri Chinchwad is also facing unrest, with candidates from Congress, Shiv Sena, and BJP rebelling in constituencies like Chinchwad and Bhosari. In Shirur, three candidates with the same name, Ashok Pawar, have submitted nominations, adding complexity to the race.
As election day approaches, party leaders will need to address the growing discontent and work towards restoring unity within their ranks to ensure a smooth electoral process.
