Pune, 6th November 2024: As the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections draw near, the political scene in Pune is heating up with campaigns in full swing. Today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Pravin Darekar took center stage at a press conference in the city.

During the conference, Darekar didn’t hold back as he launched a scathing attack on the opposition while staunchly defending the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahini Yojana. He accused the opposition of trying to sabotage the scheme, which provides Rs 1,500 per month to women, emphasizing the crucial support it offers to women in managing their expenses. Darekar made it clear that women are going to play a significant role in the upcoming elections.

Accompanying Darekar at the press conference were BJP spokespersons Sandeep Khardekar, Amol Kavitkar, Hemant Lele, and Puushkar Tuljapurkar. Darekar didn’t shy away from pointing fingers at the Mahavikas Aghadi, accusing them of spreading lies and deceiving the public with false narratives. He confidently stated that the people will hold the opposition accountable for their actions at the polls.

Taking a dig at former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Darekar criticized his unfulfilled promises, including loan waivers and blank 7/12 forms for farmers. He even went as far as accusing Thackeray of using Hindutva for political gain by wearing a “green shawl.”

Darekar also highlighted various government schemes aimed at benefiting the people, including the Lakhpati Didi initiative, discounts on government buses for women, and financial support for farmers. He contrasted the accomplishments of former chief ministers, pointing out that under Devendra Fadnavis, 106 irrigation projects were approved compared to none during Thackeray’s tenure.

Wrapping up his address, Darekar praised the development projects in Pune under the Mahayuti government, such as the Pune Metro and Ring Road. He didn’t hold back in targeting senior leader Sharad Pawar, accusing him of dishonesty and even taking a swipe at his grandnephew, Yugendra Pawar, who is contesting elections against Ajit Pawar.

Overall, Darekar’s press conference was filled with fiery accusations and bold statements, setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested election in Pune.
