Market Yard in Pune witnessed a significant shift in prices of fruits and vegetables on January 5th, 2025. Peas, tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, and ginger prices have dropped due to an increase in arrivals from both local and out-of-state suppliers. This has made essential commodities more affordable for consumers. However, oranges, sugarcane, and watermelon prices have seen a hike.

Approximately 90 to 100 trucks loaded with various produce arrived at the wholesale market on Sunday, contributing to the price adjustments. The supply came from states like Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan. The surge in supply was driven by items like green chillies, cabbage, ghevda, pavta, carrots, peas, and garlic from different states across India.

Leafy vegetables saw a drop in prices due to increased supply. Items like coriander, fenugreek, shepu, mint, amaranth, and spinach are now available at reduced rates. On the other hand, prices for roots and vegetables like radish and chavali have remained stable.

In the fruit market, prices have surged for oranges, sugarcane, papaya, watermelon, and melon. The market received significant arrivals of fruit like oranges, pomegranates, watermelon, melons, and mosambi. Custard apples, pineapples, lemons, mosambi, and pomegranates have maintained stable prices.

Overall, the market remains stable, with traders hopeful that increased arrivals will help balance prices in the coming weeks. Consumers can expect a more affordable shopping experience for essential vegetables and fruits in Pune. However, the price surge in fruits like oranges and sugarcane may continue to impact buyers during this peak season.
