It was a disappointing day for Pune residents as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city had to be canceled due to heavy rainfall. The much-anticipated rally at S.P. College grounds had to be called off because of the inclement weather that had been causing chaos in the city for the past few days.
The Prime Minister was supposed to kick off various development projects in Pune ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, including the inauguration of the underground metro project from Civil Court to Swargate and laying the foundation for the underground route from Swargate to Katraj. However, the heavy rain made it impossible to proceed with the planned events.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inspected the rally site and suggested some changes to the authorities to try and salvage the situation. Despite efforts to improve the conditions, the constant downpour only made things worse, with roads covered in mud and large puddles forming beneath the stage.
Plans were quickly made to shift the rally to the Ganesh Kala Kreeda auditorium, but even those arrangements had to be scrapped as the rain continued unabated. It was a tough call for the Prime Minister’s office, but ultimately, the decision was made to cancel the event altogether.
Pune residents will have to wait a little longer to see the Prime Minister in action, as the weather gods have decided to rain on their parade. Let’s hope for clearer skies and better luck next time!
