Hey there, folks! Today we’ve got some exciting news coming out of Pune International Airport. All ten aerobridges at the new terminal are now fully utilized by passengers, making travel much safer and more convenient.

In the past, airlines skimped on using aerobridges to save on rental costs, forcing passengers to trek from the parking bay to the terminal building. This not only increased the risk of accidents but also made the whole process a lot more tedious. However, thanks to some pressure from the airport administration, airlines are now required to use aerobridges for all flights.

With five aerobridges connected to the new terminal and five linked to the old one, passengers no longer have to worry about navigating the busy airside area filled with various vehicles. This change comes after two accidents involving ground staff in recent months, highlighting the dangers of walking in such a hectic environment.

Currently, the airport is bustling with 58 flights departing and landing at the new terminal, and 37 flights doing the same at the old terminal. With a total of 38,000 passengers being transported daily, this move to mandate aerobridge use couldn’t have come at a better time.

Walking in the airport’s airside area is no joke, with vehicles like tractors, pushback tugs, and baggage tractors constantly on the move. Tight schedules and pressure from airlines often lead to unsafe driving practices, putting walking passengers at risk.

So, next time you’re flying out of Pune International Airport, rest assured that you’ll be boarding your plane safely and conveniently through an aerobridge. Stay safe and happy travels!
