Pune Airport Sets New Record with 204 Flights in a Day
In a historic moment on Sunday, the Pune Airport saw a total of 204 take-offs and landings, breaking its previous record of 200 flights in a day. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has provided 218 slots for the Airport Administration during the winter season, with airlines booking 206 slots. However, only 194 flights actually operated, as airlines were caught trying to artificially hike fares by reserving extra slots.
After the media brought this to the attention of the Airport Administration, the airlines were warned against such practices. As a result, airlines used the maximum number of slots allotted to them, leading to a total of 102 flights landing and taking off on Sunday. Over 32,000 passengers traveled on these flights.
Airport Director Santosh Dhoke expressed his excitement over the record-breaking day, stating, “The highest number of flights operated at the Pune Airport on Sunday. The airport now has connections to various other airports, and the increase in flights is a result of the positive response from passengers in the sector.” With the Pune Airport seeing a rise in flight operations, it’s clear that the demand for air travel in the region is only growing.
