Pune Airport reached a major milestone on July 14, 2024, with the grand opening of its new terminal. The first flight took off amidst excitement from local residents, marking a new chapter in regional air travel in Pune.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol, underscoring the significance of the event in Pune’s aviation history.

The new terminal kicked off operations with nine arrivals and nine departures on its first day. Air India and Air India Express were among the first airlines to operate from the new terminal, with IndiGo set to join soon. The state-of-the-art terminal is designed to enhance passenger comfort and convenience, setting the stage for the upcoming revamp of the existing terminal.

In a push towards sustainability, Pune Airport introduced the EKA 9 electric buses for passenger transport to the AeroMall. Developed by EKA, a subsidiary of Pinnacle Industries Ltd, these buses boast cutting-edge features such as spacious interiors, comfortable seating, auto-drive capabilities, and a robust air filtration system.

Arihant Mehta, President of Pinnacle Industries, expressed his excitement about deploying the EKA 9 electric buses at Pune Airport. He emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainable transportation solutions and the importance of promoting green mobility in aviation infrastructure.
