As the Indian startup ecosystem continues to navigate through a funding winter, investors are keeping their spirits high about the potential growth and expansion of startups in the country. Pune and Hyderabad are emerging as the next big startup hubs, according to a recent survey.

Investors are particularly optimistic about Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad as the top startup hotspots in India. In the first half of 2024, Chennai-based startups led the way in fundraising with $250 million, followed closely by Pune with $241 million. Hyderabad startups raised over $210 million during the same period.

Compared to the previous year, each of these emerging startup hubs saw an increase in funding in the first half of 2024. While the overall funding for Indian startups slightly decreased, Bengaluru remained the leading startup hub with $1.57 billion raised in H1 2024.

Bengaluru’s historical dominance in the Indian startup ecosystem is evident, with startups in the city raising $70 billion since 2014. In comparison, Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad have raised $5 billion, $4 billion, and $3 billion, respectively, over the last decade, showcasing their potential as significant contributors to India’s startup landscape.
