In a recent development, the Pune Anti-Extortion Cell has successfully carried out two operations in the city, resulting in the seizure of two pistols and two live cartridges from two individuals. The accused, identified as Rahul Krishna Gaikwad and Yuvraj Lekraj Varma, were arrested in separate incidents in the Uttam Nagar and Shivane areas, respectively.
The police officers, while on patrol in Uttam Nagar, received information about an individual carrying an illegal pistol. Acting on this tip-off, the authorities apprehended Gaikwad and found a pistol and a live cartridge in his possession. Gaikwad, a 38-year-old resident of Indra Vasahat, NDA Road, Uttam Nagar, was promptly arrested, with Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Patil leading the investigation.
Simultaneously, the anti-extortion cell team in Shivane acted on another tip-off and arrested Varma, seizing a pistol and a live cartridge from him. Varma, a 29-year-old resident near Gosal Chawl, Uttam Nagar, is currently under investigation by Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde.
The successful operations were carried out by a dedicated team of law enforcement officers under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Ingle, and Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe. The team included officers such as Police Sub-Inspector Yashwant Ombase, Assistant Faujdar Praveen Dhamal, and several constables and ammaldars.
The swift actions of the anti-extortion cell have once again demonstrated their commitment to maintaining law and order in Pune, ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
