So, here’s the tea – a certain government official, let’s call them Accused AROC, allegedly got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. It’s being said that they demanded a whopping Rs.30.00 lakh bribe from a private company to help out with an ongoing enquiry. Talk about some serious cash flow, am I right?
But wait, there’s more! Accused AROC apparently didn’t stop there. They also threatened the company’s Director with heavy penalties and prosecution if they didn’t comply. Yikes, talk about playing hardball.
The plot thickens as the company’s Chief Supervisor, aka CS, stepped in to negotiate with Accused AROC. After some back and forth, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs.5.00 lakh. Still a hefty sum, if you ask me.
Fast forward to the showdown – the company was forced to shell out Rs.3.00 lakh as a partial payment to Accused AROC. But the drama didn’t end there. Accused AROC upped the ante and demanded a total of Rs.6.00 lakh, insisting on Rs.3.00 lakh as the final payment.
Enter the hero of our story – the CBI. They swooped in and caught Accused AROC red-handed while accepting the remaining bribe amount of Rs.3.00 lakh. Cue the dramatic music!
Accused AROC was promptly arrested and hauled into court. Looks like they won’t be making any more shady deals for a while. The court has remanded them to police custody until 19.10.2024, and the investigation is still ongoing.
