The Pune Traffic Police are not sitting idle though. ACP Manoj Patil has been on the move, visiting Undri, Mohammadwadi, NIBM, and Kondhwa to assess the situation firsthand. He’s directed traffic officials to step up their game and come up with solutions to ease traffic congestion and improve overall management.
One of the key directives from ACP Patil is to work closely with the PMC to align road planning with the Development Plan. He’s also called for immediate action on issues like encroachments, hawkers, and unfinished road repairs. It’s all about making the roads safer and more efficient for everyone.
But not everyone is happy with the authorities. Residents and organizations have criticized the PMC and traffic police for neglecting road safety. They’re demanding accountability and action to prevent tragedies like Dr. Date’s death from happening again.
Specific areas like Undri Marg, Kad Nagar Chowk, and Palace Orchard Road have been highlighted as accident hotspots due to poor road conditions and encroachments. Residents are fed up with empty promises and want real action to fix the infrastructure challenges they face every day.
The good news is that the traffic police are committed to taking action. Traffic Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane has promised to crack down on traffic violators and push the PMC to speed up road development as per the DP plan. Let’s hope this renewed focus will finally bring some much-needed change to the area.
