The weather in Pune is expected to remain consistent for the next 24 hours, with a possibility of light rainfall. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, and other districts due to the impending weather changes.
Anupam Kashyapi, a former head of IMD Pune’s weather division, mentioned that a low-pressure system in the southwest Bay of Bengal will bring moisture to south Maharashtra and Pune, resulting in partly cloudy skies and light rain starting from November 13.
Despite the fluctuations in temperature, IMD officials have clarified that winter has not yet arrived in Pune, as the official winter period is from December to February.
The city’s air quality has also become a cause for concern, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) showing a significant increase. Some areas in Pune, such as Thergaon, Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk, Gavalinagar, and Wakad, have recorded high AQI levels ranging from 241 to 313. Other areas like Katraj Dairy Chowk, Karve Road, Nigadi, Shivajinagar, and Alandi have also reported AQI levels above 100, posing health risks to residents.
