Hey Pune peeps! Looks like the Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given the green light for the presentation of the Civic Budget 2025-26 to be delayed until after January 15. This decision comes after some unavoidable reasons have cropped up, meaning that the ‘tradition’ of presenting the civic budget late will continue.

According to a General Body resolution of the PMC, the Municipal Commissioner is supposed to present the civic budget by January 15. However, since the previous General Body was dissolved three years ago, the Municipal Commissioner-cum-Administrator has been calling the shots. They’ve been ignoring the resolution and presenting the budget whenever they see fit.

The previous Administrator Vikram Kumar set the precedent by presenting the civic budget after January 15 for the past two years, starting the ‘tradition’. And now, the Civic Budget 2025-26 will also be presented later than expected, in the first week of March, as per the approval granted by the Standing Committee.

So mark your calendars, Puneites, as the details of the Civic Budget 2025-26 will be revealed in March, giving us all something to look forward to!
