Hey there, folks! It seems like even the police officers are not immune to corruption these days. A shocking incident has come to light in Khadki, where an Assistant Sub Inspector from the Crime Branch of Pune City Police has been accused of soliciting a bribe worth a whopping Rs 5 lakhs.
The officer in question, Santosh Suryakant Kshirsagar, allegedly demanded the bribe from a man who was involved in a fraud case. He claimed that unless the bribe was paid, the man’s friend, who was also accused of fraud, would be arrested for colluding with the accused. Talk about a twisted situation!
Thankfully, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) stepped in and laid a trap to catch the corrupt officer in the act. The complainant, a 43-year-old man, reported the incident to the ACB, and a case has been registered against ASI Kshirsagar at Khadki Police Station.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB, Dayanand Gawade, revealed that the officer had demanded the bribe on behalf of a Police Inspector, Bahirat, in exchange for not arresting the complainant for collusion with the accused. Quite a shady deal, if you ask me!
In a well-coordinated operation, the ACB managed to catch Kshirsagar red-handed with Rs 2 lakhs, while the remaining amount was compromised. The investigation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Katake, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shirish Deshpande and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janave.
Kudos to the ACB team, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudam Pachorkar and Police Constables Chandrakant Jadhav, Ankush Mane, Chetan Kumbhar, and Pandurang Mali, for their swift action in putting an end to this corrupt practice. Let’s hope that this serves as a warning to other officers who might be tempted to abuse their power for personal gain. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
