Hey there, folks! It looks like the dams in the Khadakwasla Dam Chain in Pune are getting a good fill-up thanks to some recent heavy rainfall. All four dams in the chain are currently sitting pretty at 85% capacity, with the Panshet Dam inching close to full capacity.

To manage the water levels, the Water Resources Department of the Maharashtra State Government has issued a warning to residents living near the river. They’re keeping an eye on the situation and might increase the release of water from the dams if the rain keeps coming down.

The combined total water storage across the four main dams—Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet, and Khadakwasla—is at 85.88% capacity. Yesterday’s rainfall numbers were 35 mm in Temghar, 13 mm in Varasgaon, 11 mm in Panshet, and 1 mm in Khadakwasla.

Currently, Temghar Dam is at 81.69%, Varasgaon Dam at 82.27%, Panshet Dam at 91.76%, and Khadakwasla Dam at 85.53% capacity. The Panshet Dam is releasing water into the Khadakwasla Dam, which then flows into the Mutha River to manage the excess water.

Over in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pawana Dam is holding 84.57% of its capacity, with some water being released for electricity generation. The Kalmodi Dam is also at full capacity, and other dams in the Pune District like Chaskaman, Bhama Askhed, Vadiwale, Neera Devghar, Bhatghar, and Veer Dams are showing good water storage levels.

Even the Ujani Dam on the Solapur border in Pune District is at 40.07% capacity, with 21.57 TMC of water in storage. Looks like the region is doing pretty well in terms of water storage, thanks to the recent rains! Stay safe and dry, everyone.
