Hey there, folks! If you’ve been following the news lately, you might have heard about the unfortunate situation unfolding in Uttarakhand. Pune city pilgrims who were on their way to Badrinath for a spiritual journey have found themselves stranded due to landslides triggered by heavy rains.

Imagine being stuck in a beautiful place like Joshimath or Govind Ghat, but unable to explore because of the unpredictable weather. More than 800 devotees who were returning from Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib and Shree Badrinath Temple are facing this exact scenario for the past three days.

And it’s not just them – a whopping 2,200 passengers are also stuck in various locations like Hailang, Pipalkoti, Birahi, and Chamoli. Among them are 52 individuals from Pune who have been trapped near Govind Ghat since July 8th without any aid in sight.

The landslides have wreaked havoc on travel plans, with a major landslide near Patalganga on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway causing road closures and putting lives at risk. Another landslide near Joshimath on July 9th only added to the chaos, leaving pilgrims heading to and from Badrinath Dham stranded.

While the Patalganga route has reopened, clearance efforts near Joshimath are still ongoing as recurrent landslides continue to pose challenges. As a result, popular regions like Badrinath, Joshimath, Niti Valley, Mana, Tapovan, and others remain off-limits for now. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is working tirelessly to restore normalcy.

With heavy rainfall causing the closure of 260 roads across five Uttarakhand districts, it’s essential for Char Dham Yatra participants to stay alert until all routes are fully accessible. Let’s keep these affected individuals in our thoughts and hope for a quick resolution to this difficult situation. Stay safe, everyone!
