Pune is gearing up for a major infrastructure development project with the initiation of the land acquisition process for the PMRDA ring road. The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, with District Collector Jitendra Dudy offering a 25% bonus for voluntary land surrender.

Landowners who willingly give up their land will receive 2.5 times the compensation as per the law, ensuring a smoother acquisition process. A joint land survey is scheduled for March-April to determine the total number of beneficiaries, with the first and second phases of land acquisition expected to be completed by May.

The ring road project will require a total of 743.41 hectares of land, including government-owned land, forest land, defense department land, land transferred to PMC, and private land. While the administration hopes for voluntary participation, forced acquisition will be enforced if necessary.

The project is a collaborative effort between PMRDA and MSRDC, aimed at meeting Pune’s growing transportation needs. The recent meeting chaired by Collector Jitendra Dudy outlined the importance of timely completion of the project to avoid delays in land acquisition. With a dedicated land acquisition officer overseeing the operation, Pune is on track for a smoother and more efficient land acquisition process for the ring road project.
