If you’re a fan of heading out to Lonavla or Tamhini Ghat for a weekend getaway, you’ll be happy to hear that the Pune district administration has lifted the prohibitory orders from these popular tourist spots. This decision came after pressure from local businesses who were feeling the impact of the ban.

While the ban has been lifted for most areas, certain high-risk spots like Bhushi Dam and waterfalls in forested areas still have restrictions in place. The sub-divisional officer, Surendra Navale, made it clear that the ban could be reinstated if needed based on local conditions.

The protests from shop owners and members of the transport association in Lonavla played a big role in getting the ban lifted. Even local MLA Sunil Shelke joined in advocating for the ban to be lifted, and it seems like their efforts paid off.

Just a heads up for those planning to visit the ghat areas in Pune district – the IMD has issued an orange alert from August 1 to 3. So, while you can now visit most tourist spots in the area, make sure to stay updated on any new developments to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
