Hey Pune peeps, have you heard about the latest update on the Ring Road project in our city? The acquisition of 200 hectares of land in the eastern and western parts of Pune is still pending, all in an effort to ease the traffic congestion we face daily. The Pune District Administration is in talks with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) to secure a fund of ₹500 crore for this project.

Landowners have been given a deadline of this Sunday (15th December) to provide their consent. Those who agree will receive 25% compensation, but after the deadline, the acquisition will proceed compulsorily. The Pune District Collector, Dr. Suhas Diwase, along with Land Acquisition Coordinator Kalyan Pandhare, held a meeting to discuss the pending land acquisition issues.

So far, 90% of the land needed for the Ring Road project has been acquired. The remaining 206 hectares are spread across various talukas like Purandar, Bhor, Haveli, Mulshi, Maval, and Khed. If the land acquisition is completed by the deadline, affected landowners will receive four times the compensation.

Despite some pending amounts owed to landowners, the Pune District Administration is working towards acquiring the necessary funds to complete the project. They have requested ₹500 crore from MSRDC to acquire the remaining 206 hectares of land. Dr. Suhas Diwase mentioned, “Land acquisition for the Ring Road project is almost complete, with immediate steps being taken to acquire the remaining land.”

Stay tuned for more updates on this crucial project that aims to make our daily commute a lot smoother!
