The Regional Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Pune district, prompting District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase to declare a holiday for schools and colleges in specific areas on 26th July 2024. With the Indian Meteorological Department predicting more rain to come, safety is the top priority.
Affected areas include Bhor, Velha, Maval, Mulshi, Khadakwasla area of Haveli taluka, Khed, Ambegaon, Junnar, Pune, and Pimpri Chinchwad cities. All educational institutes must remain closed for the day, with 40,000 cusecs of water being discharged from Khadakwasla Dam, raising concerns of waterlogging in Pune city.
