The Pune Division of the railway has raked in an impressive Rs. 9.75 crore in revenue from ticketless travel between April and August 2024. A total of 1,46,946 passengers were caught traveling without tickets during this period.

In August 2024 alone, ticket checking operations uncovered 19,950 ticketless passengers, resulting in a fine collection of Rs. 74,25,640. Additionally, 2,299 passengers were fined Rs. 8,78,220 for traveling with irregular or improper tickets, while 336 passengers carrying un-booked luggage paid fines totaling Rs. 42,930.

The operations were carried out under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Smt. Indu Dubey, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Shri Brijesh Kumar Singh, and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirwe. Ticket checking inspectors and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Pune also collaborated in these efforts.

The railway administration emphasizes the importance of traveling with proper tickets to avoid fines and legal consequences. Passengers are urged to adhere to travel regulations to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.

With a significant revenue collection of Rs. 9.75 crore in just five months, the Pune Division’s stringent ticket checking measures serve as a reminder to all passengers to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the railway authorities.
