Alright folks, buckle up because it’s time for some jaw-dropping news from Ahilyanagar and Dharashiv districts! The Maharashtra State Excise Department is not messing around as they recently seized a whopping ₹31.23 lakh worth of liquor and items in a bid to crack down on illegal activities ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Deputy Commissioner Sagar Dhomkar spilled the tea on a recent raid in Arangaon of Jamkhed Taluka, where a Mahindra Scorpio was caught red-handed transferring liquor to a Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Can you believe they found a total of 324 sealed whiskey bottles of 750 ml each in those vehicles? That’s some serious party prep right there, valued at a cool ₹16.72 lakh.
But wait, there’s more! The investigation didn’t stop there, leading to another seizure in Dharashiv District. This time, they uncovered 216 sealed whiskey bottles of 750 ml each, along with additional vehicles worth ₹14.50 lakh. The grand total of both busts? A jaw-dropping ₹31.23 lakh!
The names of the alleged culprits have been spilled, including Deepak Atmaram Khedkar, Bharat Shahaji Ralebhat, and a few others from Ahilyanagar. It seems like liquor smuggling from Goa is on the rise, probably because of the cheaper rates compared to Maharashtra.
The hero of the day? Excise Inspector Narendra Thorat and his team, of course! They swooped in to save the day, with Excise Sub Inspectors Viraj Mane and a bunch of other Excise Constables by their side. The Excise Department is not playing around and has urged the public to snitch on anyone involved in the illegal liquor trade. Got some juicy info? Dial 020-29911986 and spill the beans!
Stay tuned for more updates on this boozy saga as it unfolds. Remember folks, party responsibly and always opt for legal ways to get your hands on that sweet nectar of the gods. Cheers to a safe and happy New Year!
