Do you ever worry about the quality of food available at railway stations? Well, worry no more! Ten railway stations in the Pune division, including Pune itself, have recently been awarded the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification. This certification ensures that all food vendors at these stations have undergone proper training in food preparation and service to provide passengers with cleaner and safer food options.
The initiative, led by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as part of the ‘Eat Right India’ campaign by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), aims to improve the overall food safety standards at railway stations. All food vendors, catering units, restaurants, food courts, and small vendors at these stations have received training on safe cooking and handling practices to ensure the quality of food served to passengers.
To obtain the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification, food vendors underwent rigorous testing by a third-party organization to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Suresh Annapure, Joint Commissioner of the FDA (Food), confirmed that all food professionals at the ten railway stations in the Pune division successfully passed the tests and met the required standards to receive the certification.
So next time you’re traveling through Pune or any of the other certified stations, rest assured that you can enjoy a safe and clean food experience while waiting for your train. Cheers to healthier eating on the go!
