The Bund Garden Police in Pune has recently registered a case against Dr. Amit Luthra, a radiologist, for allegedly issuing death threats and using casteist slurs against Parshuram Wadekar, a prominent leader of the Republican Party of India (Athawale faction). The incident reportedly occurred after Wadekar intervened to assist a woman who had filed a complaint against Dr. Amit for criminal charges. Wadekar claims that Dr. Amit was harassing the woman and trying to take control of her clinic.
The situation escalated when Dr. Amit, along with six others, confronted Wadekar at a government guest house, threatening him and using casteist language. Wadekar has expressed fear for his safety, especially after the recent murder of corporator Vanraj Andekar. The FIR against Dr. Amit has been filed under relevant sections, including the Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The case has sparked controversy, particularly due to the involvement of MP Udayanraje Bhosale, whose name was mentioned in the formal complaint. The investigation is currently ongoing, and Punekar News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
