With the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections just around the corner, the Maharashtra State Government is taking proactive steps to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to cast their ballots. In a recent directive issued by the Department of Industries, Energy, and Labour, all establishments in Pune are required to grant employees sufficient leave on polling day, which is set for 20th November.
Shailendra Pol, the Additional Labour Commissioner for Pune Division, has made it clear that any establishments found to be in violation of this directive will face consequences. Employees must be given either a full-day leave or a two-to-three-hour concession to vote, with approval from the District Collector and District Election Officer.
This ruling applies to a wide range of establishments, including factories, shops, private companies, hotels, eateries, theaters, IT firms, and more. It is crucial that all employers adhere to these guidelines to ensure that every eligible worker has the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
If any establishment in Pune District fails to comply with these regulations, employees are encouraged to report the issue to designated officers, whose contact information has been provided. Complaints can also be submitted via email to the offices of the Additional Labour Commissioner and Deputy Labour Commissioner.
Overall, this directive serves as a reminder of the importance of voting and the government’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen has the chance to make their voice heard in the upcoming elections.
