Good news for Pune residents! The city’s water storage in the Khadakwasla project dams is at a healthy 77.35% of its total capacity, thanks to timely monsoon rains. With an increase of one TMC compared to last year, Pune is expected to avoid a water shortage this summer.

The four key dams – Khadakwasla, Panshet, Varasgaon, and Temghar – are currently holding significant water reserves. Panshet is at 82.56% capacity, Varasgaon at 85.86%, and Temghar at 49.79%. The release of water from Khadakwasla Dam is also benefiting farmers in various talukas.

Last year, the water storage in the Khadakwasla project was at 73.86% on this day, showing a marked improvement this year. This rise in water levels not only ensures ample drinking water for residents but also supports agricultural needs in the region.

Overall, the positive outlook for water availability in Pune is a result of favorable monsoon conditions and efficient water management strategies. Residents can now look forward to a water-secure future in the coming months.
