Pune witnessed a heartwarming gesture by young entrepreneur Punit Balan, who announced a financial initiative through his Punit Balan Group (PBG) to empower workers of Ganesh mandals. Balan has allocated Rs 3 crore to help these workers establish their own enterprises, providing a significant boost to their livelihoods.

The announcement was made during a felicitation ceremony organized in honor of Balan’s birthday by Ganesh mandal workers and members of Dhol-Tasha troupes. The event, held under the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal Trust, saw Balan being felicitated after performing the ‘Aarti’ of Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati at Sarasbaug.

Addressing the gathering, Balan emphasized the dedication shown by mandal workers, who often sacrifice their time and energy for voluntary service. He stressed the importance of supporting these workers, who play a crucial role in community celebrations. PBG’s initiative aims to assist workers in setting up their own enterprises, with an initial allocation of Rs 3 crore that will increase annually.

The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, which included prominent figures like Ravindra Malwadkar, Parag Thakur, and Suryakant Pathak. The event also saw the presence of trustees and representatives from various Ganesh mandals and Dhol-Tasha troupes.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, highlighting the positive impact of Balan’s initiative on the lives of mandal workers. The gesture is a testament to the spirit of community and empowerment in Pune.
