The crackdown by the Pune Excise Department comes after the tragic Porsche accident that claimed the lives of two IT engineers in Kalyani Nagar. As part of the enforcement drive, 32 establishments in Pune, PCMC, and rural areas have been targeted, with their premises being sealed.

According to Pune Excise Deputy Superintendent Sujit Patil, individuals consuming alcohol in clubs, restaurants, and bars must have a drinking license, which can be obtained from the excise department, online, or at the establishment itself. Only individuals over the age of 25 are allowed to consume hard liquor.

In response to the crackdown, restaurant owners have put up boards outside their establishments to inform customers of the rules. Drinkers will also be given separate bands to easily identify them while inside the premises.

The crackdown is ongoing, and the Pune Excise Department is determined to ensure that alcohol consumption in establishments is done in a responsible and legal manner. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
