Hey there Pune folks, have you heard about the tragic incident involving 14-year-old Swaraj Pagare? It’s been reported that his family is claiming medical negligence on the part of doctors at Poona Hospital, leading to his untimely death.

According to Swaraj’s father, Subodh, the hospital failed to inform the family about his deteriorating condition and instead called the police, who arrived in full force before notifying the already distraught family. Talk about adding insult to injury!

Swaraj, a ninth-grade student at Nobel Blooming Bird School, was involved in a road accident on June 11 while returning home from tuition. His right leg was injured, and the family rushed him to Poona Hospital for treatment.

The saga continued with the hospital allegedly demanding a hefty sum of Rs. 90,000 upfront for surgery, despite the family’s pleas for immediate treatment. The operation was delayed until the following day, and Swaraj’s condition worsened, with the hospital insisting on full payment before proceeding.

Tragically, Swaraj passed away on June 14 after experiencing a rare reaction to anesthesia called Malignant Hyperthermia. The hospital claims they did everything they could, but the necessary drug was unavailable in Pune.

The family is now seeking justice, with Subodh lodging a complaint with the Pune city police. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report from Sassoon General Hospital before taking further action.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of transparency and communication in healthcare. Let’s hope that the truth comes to light and justice is served for Swaraj and his grieving family. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
