Hey Pune peeps, did you hear about the recent deluge that hit our city in the last week of July and the first week of August? Yeah, it was a real mess with heavy discharge from the dam causing floods in low-lying areas along the Mutha river banks. Imagine waking up to find your household items, belongings, and vehicles all damaged – not a fun sight, right?

But here’s the scoop – the District Collectorate has completed panchnamas of losses and sent a report to the State Government asking for over Rs 8.23 crore to cover the damages. And just when we thought it was all over, floods struck again in the first week of August when more water was released into the river. Talk about bad luck!

Over 1,900 citizens from 537 families had to be shifted to safe places in areas like Sinhagad Road, Dhole Patil Road, Yerwada, and more. And sadly, a young man named Sagar Gher lost his life due to drowning. Panchanamas have started all over again to assess the damages.

District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase mentioned that housing societies along the Mutha river were hit hard and panchnamas of losses have been conducted. Citizens affected will be given a copy of the panchnama to use when filing claims with insurance companies. Looks like it’s going to be a long road to recovery, but we’ll get through this together, Pune! Stay safe out there.
