In a major development, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has outlined a plan to complete key tasks in the Home Department within the next 100 days. This includes the implementation of a Cyber Security Project to enhance digital capabilities in forensic science laboratories across various cities in Maharashtra.
The first phase of the plan will cover labs in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with regional labs also set to benefit from advanced data centers. Additional labs in Amravati, Kolhapur, Nanded, Thane, Dhule, Solapur, Ratnagiri, and Chandrapur will also undergo digitization as part of this initiative.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister has directed officials to expedite the modernization effort, emphasizing the need to bolster the Anti-Narcotics Task Force to combat the growing drug issue. Plans are also in place to construct armed police posts in Naxal-affected areas to enhance security measures.
In addition, a new Maharashtra Prisons Manual is on the horizon, aimed at standardizing operations across correctional facilities in line with the central government’s framework.
The Pune forensic lab is slated to receive significant upgrades as part of the government’s modernization drive, focusing on cyber security, forensic services, and anti-naxal operations to strengthen law enforcement and public safety in the state.
These developments highlight Maharashtra’s commitment to utilizing technology to address security challenges and enhance governance.
