With the FYJC admissions in Pune heating up, students are feeling the pressure as cut-off marks soar to new heights this year. The competition is fierce across all streams, with science, commerce, and arts seeing significant spikes in cut-offs compared to last year.

Top colleges like Mahatma Phule Junior College, BMCC, and Fergusson College are leading the pack with impressive cut-off marks of 97.6%, 95.8%, and 96.6% respectively. This is a sharp increase from the previous year, showcasing the exceptional performances by students in the SSC exams.

In the first round of admissions, nearly 39,000 seats were filled out of the 93,000 available seats, with over 21,000 students getting their first college preference. Students are urged to confirm their admissions quickly to secure their spots for future rounds.

Jyoti Parihar, Assistant Director of Education for Pune division, reassured students that provisional admission can be granted even without all necessary documents initially, as long as an undertaking to provide them later is submitted.

College principals have noted the natural variation in cut-offs each year, with Sunil Gaikwad of SP College highlighting a slight increase across all streams. Hrishikesh Soman from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce pointed out the unexpected rise in commerce cut-offs this year, attributing it to student performance trends.

As students navigate the tough admissions process, Principal Jagdish Lanjekar of BMCC advises them to consider factors like proximity to home and past admission patterns when selecting colleges for future rounds. Understanding previous year’s trends can help students make informed decisions for their academic future.
