Hey there, folks! It’s getting hot in here, and not in a good way. Maharashtra is feeling the heat, literally, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounding the alarm on rising heat stress levels. The Excess Heat Factor (EHF) index is on the rise, indicating prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures in various regions of the state. Yikes!
An IMD official spilled the beans, saying that central and western India, including Maharashtra, are in for some scorching days ahead. The EHF trend is not looking too good, which means we’ll be sweating it out for a while longer.
Several parts of Maharashtra are sizzling, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in some areas. Vikhroli, Karjat, and north Maharashtra are feeling the heat, with peak temperatures hitting 41°C to 42°C. And let’s not forget about Pune – Koregaon Park is the hotspot at 39.6°C, while other areas like Shirur, Talegaon, and Lohegaon are not far behind. It’s getting toasty out there, folks!
Konkan is facing its second heatwave spell, and Vidarbha is next in line for some scorching temperatures. Akola took the crown on Monday with a high of 38.8°C, while Nagpur, Bramhapuri, and Chandrapur are also feeling the heat. Marathwada is not left out, with Osmanabad and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar experiencing above-normal temperatures. Even coastal regions like Mumbai and Santacruz are feeling the burn.
The not-so-great news is that the heatwave conditions are here to stay. IMD’s forecast predicts more clear skies and high temperatures on the horizon, with Pune expected to hit 38°C to 39°C on Tuesday. Stay cool, folks, and remember to stay hydrated, avoid the sun, and take precautions to beat the heat. Summer is coming early this year, and we need to be prepared!
