The city of Pune witnessed a unique event called ‘Yuvkanchya Manatla Ganesh Utsav’ where young activists from various Ganesh Mandals came together to interact with senior police officers. The event, which took place at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Auditorium in Sadashiv Peth, aimed to address issues faced during the Ganesh festival.

Organized by Ganesh Mandal activist Raghavendra alias Bapu Mankar, the program allowed activists to voice their concerns and suggestions directly to the Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Pravin Kumar Patil. Patil, in turn, provided useful suggestions and solutions to the problems presented by the activists.

Some of the key points raised during the event included traffic congestion during the festival, the need for increased police presence during the Visarjan procession, and the provision of sanitary facilities for women. Additional CP Patil emphasized the importance of cooperation between activists and police officers for a smooth celebration.

President of the Dhol Tasha Federation, Parag Thakur, urged youth workers to continue the tradition of enhancing Ganesh Utsav, following Lokmanya Tilak’s footsteps. Raghavendra Mankar highlighted the positive public sentiment towards Ganesh Mandal workers for their support during the pandemic and introduced the platform ‘Ganeshotsav in the minds of youth’ for better communication with officials.

Senior Police Inspector Vijaymala Pawar from Vishrambaug Police Station encouraged Ganesh Mandal workers to report local issues for resolution and stressed the importance of cooperation for a successful and well-managed festival celebration.
