Have you heard about the new regulations on Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in Pune? It seems like the city is taking waste management to the next level.

Companies receiving RDF must now provide receipts to the PMC, confirming the quantity and quality of the fuel. Weight records from each truck and certificates from receiving plants are also required. The PMC will disburse 75% of the tipping fee to project operators upfront, with the remaining 25% paid only after submitting receipts and documentation.

These regulations come in response to reports of RDF being supplied to unauthorized companies within the district. Villagers in Deulgaon Wada even intercepted a truck carrying unauthorized waste recently, showing the need for stricter monitoring. The driver claimed to have collected the waste from the PMC’s Ramtekdi project.

By implementing these measures, Pune is not only aiming to streamline RDF delivery but also to reduce environmental harm and ensure accountability. With daily waste accumulation reaching 2,000 tons and RDF production capacity at 500 tons per day, these regulations are a significant step towards scientific waste management in the city.

Let’s hope that these regulations set an example for other cities to follow in tackling waste management challenges and promoting sustainability. It’s all about taking care of our environment for a better future.
