Hey folks! Get ready for the 11th edition of the Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) happening from Feb 2 to Feb 8, 2025. This event is all about celebrating unity, solidarity, and sustainability through food, bringing together student chefs from all over the world. The competition, organized by the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) in partnership with the International Hospitality Council (IHC) London, will see participants showcasing their culinary skills in two rounds of challenges.

But what’s new this year? Well, the YCO 2025 is taking a leap into the world of artificial intelligence in hospitality and hospitality education. This integration aims to enhance the human aspect of hospitality by improving efficiency and allowing professionals to focus on enhancing guest experiences through personal interactions. A book on AI in hospitality and tourism will be launched during the event, with 50 countries signing a declaration to promote AI in institutions and hotels.

Dr Suborno Bose, the CEO of IHC and Founder of YCO, highlighted the importance of AI in the hospitality industry, stating that it is not just the future but the present. The event aims to promote dialogue and friendship among participants while showcasing their talent and passion for food.

The competition rounds will kick off in Goa and then move to Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, with the Grand Finale scheduled to take place in Kolkata on February 8. Renowned chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor and Prof David Foskett will be part of the judging panel, evaluating contestants based on their skills, innovation, and creativity in cooking.

In Pune, students from countries like Azerbaijan, Scotland, Egypt, and more will compete under the mentorship of celebrity chefs and industry experts. The event will also feature a World Cuisine display and a food festival showcasing the multicultural culinary diversity of different countries.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the closing ceremony in Kolkata, where the winners of YCO 2025 will be announced. It’s going to be an exciting week filled with culinary delights and friendly competition. Stay tuned for more updates!
