Hey Pune peeps, looks like we’ve got some important news coming in hot today! The Khadakwasla Dam is making some big moves due to the heavy rainfall we’ve been experiencing. Initially, they released a whopping 35,574 cusecs of water into the Mutha River basin bright and early this morning. But hold on to your umbrellas, because that number was later reduced to 15,000 cusecs at 10:30 AM.

Shweta Kurhade, the Executive Engineer over at the Khadakwasla Irrigation Department, spilled the beans on the situation. She mentioned that they had to adjust the discharge from the dam because of all this rain we’ve been getting. And get this – from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM today, they’re back at it again with the 35,574 cusecs water release into the river basin. The dam area saw an average of 100 mm of rainfall, while the ghat area got slammed with over 300 mm!

Kurhade made it clear that they might have to tweak those discharge levels even more depending on how much more rain we get and when it decides to pour. So, she’s urging everyone to keep an eye out in certain spots around the city and to steer clear of those areas for now.

And here’s the kicker – the Pune Municipal Corporation is on high alert and ready to take action to handle this situation like a boss. So, the bottom line for us regular folks is to stay updated on any new info that comes out and to avoid any unnecessary trips to areas that might be affected.

Stay safe out there, Pune-ites! And remember, when it rains, it pours – both literally and figuratively.
