Hey there, folks! Here’s a little piece of news that will warm your heart. A young Bonnet Macaque, a protected species, was rescued in Pune recently. The poor little guy was found tied up with a rope in Katewasti, Punawale. Can you believe it?

The macaque, who is about eight months old, was thankfully rescued and taken into custody. The person responsible for this cruel act is Aslam Razzak Shaikh, a resident of Sade, Taluka Karmala, District Solapur. Shaikh, who works at a salon, has been charged under various sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Not cool, Shaikh.

Shaikh claimed he found the baby monkey when it was just a few months old and in poor health. He took care of it and now it’s in good shape. But hey, that doesn’t excuse illegal possession of wildlife, right?

Thankfully, the rescued monkey has been sent to the RESQ centre for treatment and care. Kudos to Forest Range Officer (Mulshi) Santosh Chavan, Forest Ranger Ghotavade Pragya Bansode, and Forest Guards Pandurang Kopner, Raosaheb Chaure, and Santosh Mundhe for leading the rescue operation.

Let’s all remember to respect and protect our wildlife, folks. They deserve to live freely and happily in their natural habitat. Let’s keep our furry friends safe!
