The city of Pune was shocked by the arrest of a man who sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl, the daughter of a woman he considered to be like a sister. The accused, identified as 40-year-old Vijay Swami Bamu from Ghorpadi, had been on the run for two days before being apprehended by the Anti-Dacoity Cell and Vehicle Theft Unit 1 of the Pune Police.

The incident led to the registration of a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 (POCSO) at the Mundhwa Police Station, sparking outrage among local residents. Despite efforts to locate him, Bamu remained elusive until Police Constable Vikrant Saswadkar received a tip that he was in the Mundhwa area.

The swift action of the authorities led to the arrest of the accused, bringing some relief to the community. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift action in cases of sexual assault, particularly against vulnerable individuals.
