It seems like Navratri is really shaking up the market! With the demand for fasting-friendly foods on the rise, prices of coriander, saffron, and amaranth have shot up. On the flip side, cowpea prices have taken a dip. Traders are reporting stable prices for fenugreek, shepu, spring onion, mint, chuka, and spinach.
In the wholesale market, there were approximately half a lakh judi of coriander and 70 thousand judi of fenugreek received on Sunday. And it’s not just vegetables feeling the Navratri effect – fruit prices are also on the rise. Kalingad, melon, papaya, and pomegranate prices have all gone up, while cilantro, pineapple, chickpea, orange, guava, and lemon prices have remained steady. The fruit market received 30-40 tons of oranges.
Market yard officials and traders are predicting that prices will stabilize post-Navratri once supply and demand even out. Looks like it’s all about that festive demand!
