Hey there, Pune commuters! Exciting news for all you metro riders out there – Pune Metro has just announced some major developments in its expansion plans.

First up, tenders have been invited for the design and construction of underground stations at Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj. These stations are a key part of the Swargate-Katraj extension of the Purple Line, which currently runs from PCMC to Swargate.

But wait, there’s more! Pune Metro has also put out tenders for the construction of four elevated stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, and Bhakti Shakti. While these tenders don’t include work on the viaduct or electrical installations, plumbing works will be part of the scope for the elevated stations.

The contractor who lands the project will be responsible for designing and building the underground stations and associated tunnels along the North-South Corridor of the Pune Metro initiative.

For those of you keeping track, the current Purple Line operates between PCMC and Civil Court, covering 13.3 kilometers with 11 stations. Recently, the line was extended by 3.3 kilometers from Civil Court to Swargate, adding three more stations. And the northern extension from PCMC to Nigdi is currently under construction, set to cover 4.519 kilometers with four stations.

This expansion is a big win for Pune’s metro infrastructure, promising improved urban mobility for residents and visitors alike. Get ready to ride in style, Pune – the metro is on the move!
