Guess what, Pune is all set to get two new metro corridors! Yes, you heard it right. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given the green light to the construction of two new metro lines connecting Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad railway station. And the best part? The Central and State Governments are going to pitch in for the estimated cost of ₹5,704 crore.

This exciting development was announced after a meeting of the Pune Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (PUMTA), where it was decided to prepare a detailed project report for the new metro routes. The report was approved by the PMC’s General Body, with Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale giving the thumbs up.

As part of the expansion plan, ₹3.6 crore has been set aside for land compensation, and the proposal will now be sent to the government for final approval. The Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor metro line will cover a distance of 11.5 kilometers and will have 10 stations, while the Hadapsar-Saswad railway station corridor will be 5.57 kilometers long with five stations. Both lines will be elevated, making commuting a breeze for the residents of Pune.

Dr. Bhosale revealed that the funding for this mega project will come from central and state government funds, as well as loans. The PMC won’t be directly investing any money into the project, but has given its approval as the metro lines will pass through municipal limits.

So, get ready Puneites, because your city is about to become even more connected with these new metro corridors!
