Hey Pune residents, get ready for some exciting updates on the Swargate-Katraj underground Metro corridor extension! The project cost is now set to increase by ₹683.11 crore, bringing the total budget to ₹3,637.6 crore. Thanks to the addition of two new stations at Balajinagar and beyond Market Yard, the Pune Municipal Corporation has increased its contribution to ₹250 crore.
The central government approved the extension last year, and Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited is gearing up to start construction soon. With preliminary surveys done, on-ground work is expected to kick off in the coming months. However, commuters and local representatives are urging authorities to speed up the process, as it’s estimated to take over four years to complete.
Initially planned with three stations, the addition of Balajinagar and another station beyond Market Yard will improve accessibility for more Pune residents. MP Muralidhar Mohol and MLA Madhuri Misal have advocated for these extra stations to ease traffic congestion and make the Metro more accessible to all.
So, keep an eye out for more updates on this exciting project as it progresses. Let’s hope it stays on track and helps alleviate traffic issues in the city!
