Pune Metro Line 3 is all set to revolutionize urban transportation in the city, connecting the bustling Hinjewadi IT Hub to Shivajinagar with a total of 23 strategically located metro stations along the way. Despite facing delays, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is working diligently to meet the revised completion date of September 2025.
The Line 3 project also includes the construction of a parallel flyover along Ganeshkhind Road to further enhance connectivity for commuters. With key stations like Infosys Phase 2, Wipro Phase 2, and Balewadi Stadium, this metro line is expected to cater to the needs of residents, commercial establishments, and educational institutions in the region.
In addition to Line 3, Pune Metro’s Phase 1 is already operational, connecting Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate. The upcoming extensions in Phase 1, including the PCMC to Nigdi and Swargate to Katraj routes, will further expand the metro network by 2025.
Looking ahead, Pune Metro Phase 2 plans to cover a total of 113.23 kilometers with seven proposed routes, such as Ramwadi to Wagholi and Khadakwasla to Kharadi. With strong leadership from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Pune Metro project is on track to transform the city’s urban transportation landscape.
The importance of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route cannot be overstated, as it promises enhanced connectivity, reduced congestion, and improved quality of life for Pune residents. By prioritizing sustainable urban mobility, Pune is paving the way for a world-class metro system that will cater to the needs of its growing population and set new benchmarks for public transportation in India.
