Good news for residents of Pune! The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA)’s Metro Line 3 is expected to be up and running by the end of this year. The private concessionaire working on the project has requested an extension until September for completion, with trial runs set to start in October or November once construction wraps up in September.

Currently, about 83-85% of the work has been completed, with the integrated flyover at University Chowk scheduled to be finished by April. However, challenges such as the last land parcel at Raj Bhavan not being handed over and utility shifting in some areas still pending remain.

The Metro Line 3 was initially supposed to be completed by March 2025, but with 85% overall completion already achieved, progress is being made. The integrated flyover from University Chowk to the E-Square junction is a crucial part of the project and must be finished before operations can begin.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been keeping a close eye on the project, urging the concessionaire to speed up the work. The ₹8,313 crore project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with 12 out of the planned 23 stations currently under construction. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in Pune’s transportation infrastructure!
