Exciting news for Pune residents as the city gears up for the Phase 2 expansion of the Pune Metro project! With a massive budget of nearly Rs 10,000 crore allocated for the project, the Maharashtra government has approved the construction of two new metro lines. The expansion is set to transform the city’s transportation infrastructure, connecting key areas and easing congestion.

The newly approved metro routes include the Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi line and the Nalstop-Dahanukar Colony-Warje-Manikbaug line. These routes will cover a combined length of 31.63 kilometers and include 28 stations. The project aims to make travel more efficient and accessible for Pune residents, linking important residential and commercial hubs.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the Phase 2 expansion, a technical consultant will be appointed to oversee the project. The consultant will be responsible for various tasks including project design, construction supervision, safety protocols, and staff training. With Phase 1 already operational and Phase 2 extensions in progress, the consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely completion of the expansion.

Lessons learned from Phase 1 have helped Pune Metro prepare better for the challenges of Phase 2. With a strategy in place and a new consultant set to take over, the project is expected to progress efficiently. The Phase 2 expansion is poised to make Pune Metro one of the most advanced metro systems in India, providing a more convenient and reliable mode of public transportation for the city’s growing population.
