Hey Pune peeps, have you heard the news? The metro line from Swargate to the District Court is up and running, and it seems like everyone is loving it! Over the weekend, a whopping 17,470 passengers hopped on board between 4 pm and 11 pm. Talk about popular!
But hold your horses, folks. Some passengers are now clamoring for the metro to run even later, until midnight. Unfortunately, Mahametro officials are saying that’s just not possible right now due to maintenance and technical stuff. Bummer, right?
Mahametro has been on a roll lately, finishing up two major metro routes: one from PCMC to Swargate and another from Vanaz to Ramwadi. The grand unveiling was this past Sunday, and people have been buzzing about it ever since.
With more and more people using the metro, the average daily ridership has shot up to 1.57 lakh. And get this – the journey from PCMC to Swargate now only takes 34 minutes, while the Vanaz to Ramwadi trip is a quick 37 minutes.
Commuters are loving the new service, especially because it’s helping ease the traffic jams along these routes. Now that the metro is running at full steam on both lines, folks are asking for more trains and longer hours. Can’t blame them for wanting more of a good thing, right?
In case you missed it, the metro used to only go from Pimpri-Chinchwad to the District Court. But now, with the extension to Swargate, Mahametro has rolled out a new schedule. The metro will be chugging along for 16 hours a day, from 6 am to 10 pm on both routes.
For all you early birds and night owls, here’s the scoop on the new schedule:
– PCMC to Swargate Route: Trains will come every 10 minutes during non-peak hours and every 7 minutes during rush hour.
– Vanaz to Ramwadi Route: Same deal – every 10 minutes during off-peak times and every 7 minutes during peak hours.
So there you have it, Pune peeps. The metro is the new way to get around town, and it looks like it’s here to stay. Happy commuting!
